Icannot find a key or keys to change the points when in a scenario when i have to connect wagons.Also is there a way to point to the side of the track where the points lever is.

Changing Points
Here are the available options:
Pressing G throws the point in front of the loco/train and Shift-G the one behind, providing that there are no trailing points in the way !
Displaying the F3 panel and clicking on a point node, which however appears in the panel rather late and one has to drive very slow.
Either from inside the driver cab or in the #2 or #8 views left-mouse-click on the lever base of a Manual Point or the housing of IOW motorized ones.
My preferred method is to change to the #9 map and then set points as required by holding down the Shift key and left-mouse button click on the point nodes along the path you want the loco/train to take.
