Rail Simulator goes to Intermodellbau Exhibition in Dortmund, Germany
Intermodellbau is the largest model show of the year in the Europe. From Wednesday 16th April through till Sunday 20th, visitors were arriving by the thousand. As a first time Intermodellbau visitor, I was initially overwhelmed by the venue size and the sheer number of halls and stands within...
The Rail Simulator team of RSfrank and myself were guests of German Railroad (http://www.german-railroads.eu), so thanks to Ernst and Ulf for their hospitality. The German Railroads stand offered visitors their entire product range to date as well as other commercially available add-ons. Each hour, the stands projector would be used to show the latest offerings for Rail Simulator that they had developed as well as the official Cajun Pass/08 Shunter add-on pack available from Just Trains.
The reaction to Rail Simulator was positive; with many visitors impressed with the visual quality of the game. Even veteran Train Simmers were keen to see what Rail Simulator could offer, and appeared to be pleasantly surprised with the capability and flexibility of the product and we all had our work cut out answering questions.
Displaying Rail Simulator on an additional PC, RSFrank offered the chance to have a personal guided tour to any interested person as well as tips and tricks for getting the most from the Route building tools.
With the huge number of visitors attending the show, Wednesday and Thursday went very quickly. Splitting my time between being on hand to answer technical queries as well as taking time to chat with German Railroads and look around the show, I was thoroughly exhausted but hugely enjoyed my time at the exhibition.
I would like to thank the team at German Railroads and RSfrank for their excellent hospitality, as well as acknowledge our delight at the enthusiasm shown by the visitors for Rail Simulator.
RS Adam
