Otto's IOW Freeroam Version

Created a stand-alone version of the IOW which contains just a FREEROAM scenario, the same as my copy of the CAJON-OTTO-MINOR route, allowing the selecting and driving of any of it's player services and rolling stock which have been placed in various of it's sidings and yards.

To start with I added 2 new switches at Ryde St.John's Road to make access to and from it's siding and mainline tracks easier:

Then I added a new siding at Shanklin for a return trip train, taking liberties :-)

and this freight train at Wootton, headed by the BLACK-5:

Then I filled the route with player services and rolling stock at various locations as listed in it's Named Route Marker locations, which can be jumped to using the GPS options.

Here at Ryde St.Johns Road:

and Havenstreet:

Once a service has been started for the first time the GPS can no longer be used to jump to other remote locations which are outside the 2000 metres #8 view range.

Changing to the World Editor and then selecting the Scenario Tools option will reset the scenario and allow the GPS to jump to another location where there are player services and exiting back to the player scenario, changes being saved on the way, this new service can then be driven.

Final Modification ?

Having replaced some of the automatic trailing switches causing derailments with manual ones, removed the Class 483 in the Sandown siding which crawls out of it at less than 2 mph and replaced it with a Class 166, useful in case of a power cut :-), I think the IOW-OTTO is now as good as I can make it !

You can forinstance drive the Class 483 from the new siding at Shanklin all the way to the Ryde pier, making sure that the train gets switched to the empty platform track at the St.Johns Road station and after leaving it then switch to the other track towards the Ryde Esplanade and finally the pier itself.

Having stopped the train there, the driver can take over the Class 483 on the other track and drive it all the way back to Shanklin !

All comments are welcome if they help to make more improvements !

Have FUN, O t t o.

More Improvements

Did not like this switch stand being underneath the high voltage third rail, likely to kill a careless linesman and re-laid some of them to be in the center between twin tracks where they usually are, adding some missing ones at switches:

While I was at it gave this Invincible a new siding so it does not block the green 5TM loco:

Then it had to help this 4 cars train to get to the Summit on the way to Wootton:
