Train Simulator 2013 - what happens on the 20th September?

Wednesday 12th September 2012

Train Simulator 2013 (Standard edition) will be available on Steam from 20 September 2012. From that day, Train Simulator 2012 will no longer be available on Steam.
What do I get in Train Simulator 2013?
Anybody who already has TS2012 will receive all the new features totally free. However, existing TS2012 users will not get the new TS2013 routes and locomotives for free. TS2012 users who want all the new content will find that the most cost-effective option is to simply buy a copy of TS2013.
TS2013 Standard, RRP £19.99/€24.99/$29.99/449Ru/$14.99 CIS: available for a limited time. Contains: Sherman Hill, London to Brighton, Northeast Corridor, Isle of Wight.
TS2013 Deluxe, RRP £29.99/€36.99/$45.99/709Ru/$23.49 CIS: available after the release of TS2013 Standard. Contains: Sherman Hill, London to Brighton, Munich-Augsburg.
The Munich-Augsburg route will be available to everybody who buys or pre-orders TS2013 Standard for the discounted price of £10.00/€12.00/$16.00/260Ru/$8.50 CIS. It will be available otherwise for the usual route price of £24.99/€29.99/$39.99/599Ru/$19.99 CIS.
TS2013 Standard is available to pre-order now with a 10% discount, making it even better value for money (http://store.steampowered.com/app/220110/)
How can I get TS2013? Won’t I end up with two separate games if I buy TS2013 on top of TS2012?
No, you won’t end up with two separate games. After 20th  September you will have one game: TS2013, even if you have bought TS2012 and TS2013 separately. When you have pre-ordered TS2013 Standard, you will see it in your Steam library. If you experience any difficulty in pre-ordering TS2013, please contact Steam support (https://support.steampowered.com/)
Can I use the DLC I purchased for TS2012 with TS2013?
Yes, your old RailSimulator.com DLC will be compatible with TS2013. Remember, with Steam you can always verify your local files and make sure that you have all your DLC installed (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335)
What about the route I am building myself? What will happen to it when TS2013 comes out, will it still work if people no longer have the old ‘core’ routes that I am using to build it with?
Anybody who wants to run your route will be able to do so. Existing TS2012 users will still have the old ‘core’ assets, so they will be able to run any routes built using them. New users who start off with TS2013 will be able to download asset packs containing old core assets.
What will happen to any third-party DLC or self-created routes/assets on 20 September?
We recommend that you back up all third-party and self-created items, including work in progress. Please see this link for more details (http://www.engine-driver.com/2012/09/team-tuesday-train-simulator-2013-what.html)
I bought Train Simulator 2012 in the Steam summer sale but have not activated or installed it yet. Will it still work after 20 September?
Yes. You can install TS2012 now, and on 20 September it will automatically upgrade to the new TS2013 technology features as described above. Even if you install it after 20 September, you will still get the technology upgrade to TS2013.
We hope this has answered your questions on TS2013.
